Belly Bliss vs. Bio-Oil (and a mini rant:)

Everywhere I look, I seem to see or hear about Bio-Oil, a relatively inexpensive stretch mark oil used during pregnancy.  While we know stretch marks can be genetic, and it's tough to get rid of them completely; it's also said that certain ingredients can lessen the severity of them (such as Vitamin E and Sweet Almond Oil which can reduce scarring, both of which are found in Carefree's Belly Bliss). So I had to check this out-perhaps Bio-Oil could inspire our own product??

Upon looking at this in more detail, though, I was floored by what I found and shouldn't have been surprised.  Its overall rating was a toxic red "High Hazard" 8 in EWG's trusted Cosmetics Database.  (I usually look for my purchased products to fall in a green 0-1 category when possible).

It's typical in the mass conventional market to promote products with preservatives and toxins for profit and long shelf-lives... what's sad is the false advertising that goes into them.  When I say false advertising, I'm not arguing with effectiveness as I haven't tried them all or researched this further; what I mean is that they don't specify the allergens and toxins that go into their products.  Would you buy something that said, "Contains cancer-causing ingredients... Linked to large tumors... Also used in garage floor cleaners... Highly toxic or causes infertility in animal studies???"  No, and neither would I.  Why is it that prescription drug commercials need to list the awful side effects that may come with them (albeit in a quiet voice at the very end, but still!), but our products need no warning at all??

This was the whole basis of Carefree's line... safe, cost-efficient, AND effective.  Our ingredients have been proven to be just as effective as the conventional ones have, we just leave out the harmful ingredients and load up with the good stuff.  It's not easy on our end, but when the products are shipped efficiently and stored correctly, their shelf-lives are very stable and the products remain fresh.

My comparison just turned into a mini-rant, and I apologize, but pregnancy is the most precious time to pay extra attention to safe and healthy ingredients-both ingested and on our skin, since we do absorb it. (Check out a previous post here on the subject).  So I was highly disappointed in my findings, and highly grateful that we can provide a safe and effective alternative!  Check out our entire ingredient list here and their safe ratings by EWG.

In closing...

Belly Bliss ingredients: shea butter, arrowroot powder, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, vitamin e oil, lemongrass oil (all 100% organic)
