Well, the time has finally come. We've been working long and hard on a major project in this household (besides co-parenting two beloved crazies:), and I'm so excited to finally share the news! We have launched our very own unique 100% Organic Skin Care line... Please warmly greet:
Our Story (the less professional version of our "About Us";)
This wasn't an overnight venture. In fact, at first I was quite skeptical, but another harebrained scheme from my nutty professor of a husband it wasn't (don't even get me started on the "Surf Seat"). It all started with a coif. Say what? Yup, his thick tresses that needed some stylin'. Long gone were the Jersey-Shore-gelled days I'd fallen so gleefully for at 18 (we can discuss THAT later), and he'd matured into a pomade dude. Just a dab to look presentable enough for work. He treasured that dollar store tin and all its dollar-worthy goodness... until he realized he was straight-up putting harsh chemicals on his scalp. As I've said before I'm lucky to have a partner in life that values health as much as I do and has become more aware of the toxic effect of not only what we ingest, but also what we put on our skin. Science shows that we can
readily absorb toxins through the skin (a major organ, often with wide open pores) and into the bloodstream. Now, products have always been my weakness, so finding good affordable organic products is quite the challenge. He didn't believe how expensive they'd be, but sure enough he found himself an ounce jar for $50 claiming to be healthy yet still containing red flag words we couldn't pronounce and "natural" preservatives that weren't safe in the least. I've been a sucker for these finds for years-our choices are limited, folks! But I knew he would never purchase it. Always thinking outside of the box, he wondered why he couldn't do a little research and whip some up himself! And that he did. It wasn't easy, and it took many trials, and many errors. However after working hard it was affordable, it did the trick, and it was, most importantly... SAFE.
From there, things took on a life of their own.
Why can't we make our own lotions? Why can't we make our own baby balm? And once we realized we COULD, and were pretty good at it, we thought,
WHY AREN'T WE SHARING THIS WITH OTHERS?!!! (You won't find pomade on our current product list as we wanted to stick with skin care to start!). I credit this blog and its readers with showing me that others do care tremendously about their health as well as their children's. Even if you're not
gung-ho organic or gluten-free (neither of which we can keep up with 100%), you're still CURIOUS as to how to better your health-whether it be to rid the effects of toxins on this increasingly diseased nation, or simply how to get your children to eat some more veggies! I was so happy that many could relate to my open and honest discussions. Because of this, I am confident that no matter what, at least a few of you will choose to benefit from our venture, and if nothing else, our family will continue to enjoy the goodness of what we have created.
Our Products and Ingredients:
Our products are all we've been using throughout the formulating process over the past year. We trust and love them. I could never back anything that I didn't truly believe in. Now, please keep in mind these aren't your everyday products that you're used to. Natural ingredients may separate, are much richer, and have a different consistency (sometimes, we'd get a FABULOUS consistency, but the product itself would be super dry on the skin and we'd have to sacrifice one for the other-we had to think of the benefits to the skin first and foremost). Basically, our products aren't watered down. Even products containing water-based aloe MUST have preservatives included, and that was an adamant no-no in our book. The good news is that thanks to our research and meticulously trying variants of ingredient levels over and over (and over and over) again, we've used only dry oils with long stable shelf lives. You won't find preservatives,
parabens (linked to breast cancer and early puberty), sulfates, methyls, or chemicals in our products and they're all safely packaged using BPA-free containers! Of course nothing is animal-tested (unless you count our children), and be aware that "No Animal Testing" on labels still often means that their ingredients themselves HAVE been animal tested, in fact, all types of preservatives legally have to be.

Body Bliss is a rich hydrating body lotion that treats you to a truly blissful experience. Infused with healing Coconut Oil, hydrating Shea Butter, and calming Lavender Oil, it is a perfect treat for your skin and senses. Nourish, restore, relax... naturally!
To use: Rub between palms and apply to entire body until absorbed after bath or shower, and as needed throughout the day.
Ingredients: Shea Butter, Arrowroot, Coconut Oil, Rosemary Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Lavender Oil
Friendly Face is a luxurious facial moisturizer suitable for any skin type. While most of us have been conditioned to pack on chemically-laden creams promising to meet our specific skin type's needs, the reality is even the "oiliest" of skin may be dehydrated from the elements or our own habits thus overproducing our own oils. Breakouts are usually hormonally or chemically linked, not from oils themselves. We carefully chose the dry non-clogging oil, antioxidant-packed Jojoba. We also added the "miracle serum" Moroccan Argan Oil that has powerful anti-aging and nourishing properties and is extremely popular among celebrities and the skin care industry right now.
To use: Rub a small amount on palms and apply to entire face, neck, and décolletage. A little bit goes a long way, and once rubbed in the oils healthfully absorb leaving a silky smooth finish. Perfect as a day cream under makeup or as a hydrating night cream.

3-in-1 Eco Acai Scrub is quite the triple threat! In fact, it's got a lot more than 3 uses, but we'll stick to the highlights. Using ground Acai Berry and Sea Kelp, the antioxidant and anti-aging properties are extremely powerful in this product. Pair that with Coconut Oil and Shea Butter, and you've got quite the amazing experience awaiting you. This product exfoliates as a scrub, nourishes as a mask, and moisturizes to perfection! Available in invigorating Eucalyptus or calming Lavender. (Love love love!!!)
To use: Rub a small amount in your hands and apply to dry face. Scrub for at least 30 seconds. To use as a mask, leave on for a minimum of 5 minutes after scrubbing and allow the ingredients to get to work! Wash off with warm water and dry. Light hydration will be left behind as a great moisturizer. (The natural dark color of this product looks intimidating, but it washes off of skin and sink with water alone in a few seconds!)
Do not let product enter your scrub-keep sealed and dry.

Baby Bliss is an unscented healing balm and lotion suitable for everyone, but does wonders for the the most precious skin. This thickened ointment allows baby to get all the benefits of Coconut Oil and Vitamin E without the greasy feel lingering. It can be used on eczema, as a lotion after bath, and to treat and prevent diaper rash. Our babies love this. We take solace in knowing that there isn't one questionable ingredient in this product after trying about every one on the market! (I am especially passionate about this product after being extremely disappointed in "Honest" products packed with unhealthy additives our babies do NOT need exposure to!)
To use: Rub in palms and apply to baby's bum to treat or prevent diaper rash, after bath to body as a lotion, or on dry/rough spots on skin.

Holistic Hand is a very "handy" little addition to Carefree's collection! Its small size allows you to pop it in your purse, car, or diaper bag with ease-or just store one in every room in the house! Tea Tree Oil infuses our moisturizing hand lotion to act as a natural germ-fighter while hydrating the skin. Hands stay moisturized but not greasy. (Personal note: this germaphobe is in love:)
To use: To moisturize and fight germs, rub a small amount on hands until absorbed into palms.
